Buddies on Blades
Our program is for skaters who are 3 and 4 years old. This program
is designed for skaters that have never been on the ice before. We offer
this program in 1/2 hour increments. Assistance with the older skaters
is used for these skaters.
Learn to Skate Program
Our program is for skaters to learn the basic fundamentals of skating. Learning the basic fundamentals of
skating, allows the skater to do hockey, figure skating, and ringette. Upon completion of each level the
skaters will receive a badge. Recommended age: 4 yrs and older. This program is a group format. The professional coach
spends time with the group, along with an assistant coach being with the group for the entire time.
Advanced Recreational Program
Our program allows the skater to learn the basics of figure skating. In the Advanced Recreational
Program we teach different skills, jumps, spins, dance stroking and Skating Skills. The skaters will develop the quality
of their control, balance, speed and posture while doing their elements. The pre-requisite for this group is Learn to skate/
Elementary Program. This program is an open-ended program. Skaters can move into the figure skating test program at any time.
Hockey Skating Skills
This program has been designed to train the basic skating skills necessary in Hockey and Ringette. The teaching
method is the introduction of Balance exercises designed to train the athlete to skate equally well on both feet and in both
directions. The repetition of these exercises will develop the balance and co-ordination required to become a better skater.
Adult Program
This program is taught in a group format. In the program we have many different level of skaters, therefore the program is
taught with various levels of difficulty. The coach always works with the group. The Adults are encouraged to do all the
elements, but the Adults themselves must set restrictions. The number in the group varies.
Figure Skating Test Program
We call this program the 'Pre-Preliminary to Passed Preliminary Free Skate' program. This program consists of apprximately a 2 1/2 hour session
each day. There is a 45 minute general session, 15 minute stroking, 10 or 15 minute on-ice technique session, 30 minute skill/dance session and a 45 minute off-
ice training session. A Base Coach is assigned to each skater, and a 15 minute lesson is done during the general session. In the off-ice training class the skater
works on balance and posture, twister, endurance, flexibility and jump work.
Figure Skating Test/Juvenile Competitive Program
This Program is call the 'Junior Bronze to Juvenile Freeskate Program'.
This program is designed for the higher starskate, pre-competitive skater and Juvenile sectional competitor. The program consists of general sessions, skill/dance
sessions, on ice technique classes, stroking classes, fitness classes, off ice technique classes and flexibility classes. This program is offered in the mornings
and afternoon sessions. A Base Coach is assigned to each skater. The Base Coach would give the skater majority of lessons, but lessons would also be given by our pick-up coaches.
Figure Skating Pre-Novice and Higher Competitive Programs
This Program is designed for Pre-Novice and Higher skaters who wish to compete up to the National Level. It is recommended that our skaters skate at least
four days therefore we offer this program in the morning and afternoons. In the morning we offer a 1 1/2 hour program. In the afternoon we offer two 45 minute
general sessions, 45 minute fitness class, 15 minute stroking class and 45 minute flexibility classes. A Base Coach is assigned to each skater. The Base Coach would give the skater
majority of lessons, but lessons would also be given by our pick-up coaches.
Figure Skating Pairs and Dance Competitive Programs
This Program is designed for Dance and Pair teams from the beginner team to teams competing at the National level. We offer this program throughout the morning and
afternoon sessions. The Morning program is approximately 1 1/2 hours in lenght, while in the afternoon skaters have a pairs/dance session, a general sesison, weight training, fitness
classes, lift classes, stroking sessions, on ice pair technique and flexibilty classes.
